Space spaced photometry of transiting exoplanetary systems allows one to deduce the stellar center-to-limb variation (CLV) with exquisite precision. In recent years it became clear that standard model atmospheres cannot fully describe the observed CLVs, and in solar-type stars magnetic activity of varying degree needs to be considered. Using 3D model atmospheres including magnetic fields I demonstrate that this notion is backed from the theoretical side. This means that the CLV indeed provides another "window" into the magnetic activity of late-type stars.
