The exploration of exoplanetary atmospheres has entered a transformative phase. Once limited to single, emblematic detections, the field has now matured into population-level studies that reveal universal trends rather than isolated phenomena. Among the most intriguing of these is the emerging link between atmospheric winds and planetary magnetic fields—an essential ingredient for long-term atmospheric retention and, ultimately, habitability. I will present recent advances that place the first observational constraints on magnetic field strength across the exoplanet population, outline the challenges that remain as we approach the ELT era, and show how upcoming missions such as ARIEL will bridge the gap between current capabilities and the next generation of atmospheric characterization.
